Valcor is proud to announce that we are working with Gloyer-Taylor Laboratories (GTL) on an ultra-lightweight liquid hydrogen storage system. This system converts cryogenic liquid hydrogen into warm hydrogen gas to use in hydrogen fuel cells, which generates power to drive the electric motors of a manned helicopter. A liquid hydrogen system and fuel cell provides a clean, efficient, and low cost alternative to conventional hydrocarbon fuels and provides twenty times more range than an equivalent battery powered system.
This hydrogen storage system includes GTL’s composite dewar-tank and Valcor valves that can handle cryogenic hydrogen. Valcor has many years of experience designing cryogenic liquid hydrogen valves and extensive flight heritage.
